Nokia Jeppe: home robot for spontaneous video communication
Finnish corporation Nokia, better known through their phones, mobile home robot presented to the organization of conferences on behalf of Jeppe. This latest development Nokia Research Center Laboratory of smart spaces (Smart Spaces lab), focused on developing innovative solutions for “smart environment.” Presented a prototype is part of an experiment to determine the potential introduction of various types of security video in contemporary homes.
The robot represents the electronic pet. It has stereo camera, a digital compass and the sound sensor. The idea is to make videoconferencing more informal and spontaneous. The robot is controlled by the mobile Internet tablet Nokia N800, including 6 preset movements. Plans to continue using the Internet to its management, Jeppe able to move independently on the territory, knowing their route and location of transmitters for exchanging information and accessing the network.
