WD VelociRaptor: 2,5-inch, SATA and 10 thousand revolutions

The company Western Digital announced the release of a new family of 2.5 - inch hard drive, WD VelociRaptor, equipped with an interface SATA, with the speed of rotation of the spindle 10 thousand revolutions per minute. New disks are designed to work in the corporate server hardware and positioned as the optimal solution for high density rackmount blade-server form factors 1U and 2U. Winchester WD VelociRaptor will be produced in versions up to 300 GB capacity, while their energy consumption by 35% less than the previous generation of hard disks WD Raptor.
