Nouveau Riche
As sophisticated as the term sounds, Nouveau Riche, a new definition and glory in the 21st Century. This cultural change in the attitude towards nouveaux riches started by the example of President Ronald Reagan, as Nelson W. Aldrich Jr. in 1988 in his book “Old Money: The Mythology of America’s Upper Class”. Aldrich says that as a Selfmademan Reagan surrounded himself with other self made men who had overcome, social class ladder.
Many believed that Reagan was an “epitome” of the new movement by money as his choice on the right wing of politics characteristic of the Sunbelt nouveaux riches. Reagan called the embrace of the “Market Man” and continue to be encouraged more efficiency in Corporate America through the use of the hostile takeover. In the dawn of the rise of Silicon Valley, entrepreneurial spirit, because of its underlying hard work and target the size. The lines that once separated society between new money and old money have changed since the birth of the “night multi millionaire”. Internet moguls such as David Filo and Jerry Yang, founder of Yahoo! Wearing help to fit terms such as nouveau riche.
Reagan ideas such as a futuristic way to industry, as in the electronics business, where “a bunch of wide screen eyed kids,” were not only to make money: they were idealistic and would change the world . Joseph Nocera of the New York Times Magazine, alleged that a social change occurred when new money was respectable, it was the moment to a computer California start up instead of a Texas oil well.
